Journey to CASA

Journey to CASA
- In Late October Paige Bente and Brad Wagner embarked by vehicle from  San Francisco, California, on an overland journey to the CASA facility in San Ignacio, Belize.  The purpose of the trip was to deliver an Isuzu Trooper that will become the CASA Bird Rescue Vehicle (BRV) and to share the mission and goals of CASA as they traverse Mexico enroute to Belize.

In addition to visting the natural and cultural wonders of Mexico, Paige and Brad will be visiting environmental preserves and conservation facilities located throughout Mexico.

Please follow the directions provided in the column to the right and follow their progress - as derived from GPS data received from them - and share the sites they saw and the people they met.

To all of our friends and supporters of the CASA mission, thanks for checking in - you will be able to follow our journey through Meso-America by viewing our route on Google Earth - In addition to following our progress through mainland Mexico and across the Yucatan Peninsula into Belize, you will be able to view photographs  from the actual points of their origination;  all of this through the magic of GPS/digital photography and the handiwork of GIS Specialist Chris Benté.

Here's How -

1.  If you have not done so already, download and install Google Earth - the URL for installation is http://earth.google.com/download-earth.html
2.  Save this file "Journey_to_Casa.kmz"to your desktop - the route of our journey is recorded here and will be displayed when you open Google Earth (last updated with final points December 19, 4:48 AM PST).
3.  Open the Google Earth application.
4.  In Google Earth, select 'File' from the dropdown Menu, then 'Open'.  Browse to the where you saved the "Journey_to_Casa.kmz" file  (the file that you previously downloaded, and select it - you will then see our route marked with "flags" that when selected will provide pictures of the Journey to CASA.  Paige and Brad arrived at CASA the afternoon of November 27, 2007 having completed the 5000+ mile journey.
